Things to do in the area

Nene Overland is located on the outskirts of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. We are surrounded by many quaint locations such as Stamford, Oakham and Uppingham and there are plenty of places to visit while coming to see us. You can either hop on the train and go to Peterborough station which is just 10 minutes from us or get to us by car, where we are conveniently located just off the A1. Below, we have compiled a list of places to visit and stay when you visit us, making more of your visit!

 

 

Pub/Hotel

The Haycock – Also located in Wansford is this lovely hotel with a lovely dining menu and a more relaxed menu during the day

The Crown – Located in the charming market town of Stamford and just a 15-minute drive, the Crown offers cosy rooms, a charming bar and a scrumptious menu.

The George Hotel – Dating back 1000 years, a stunning hotel that oozes luxury. Stay and dine in their Oak dining room indulging in fine foods or have a cocktail in their cosy bar.

 

The White Hart – Only 10 minutes from us, a 17th-century Inn surrounded by beautiful countryside and in the village of Ufford. Offering seasonal British food from favourite pub classics, eclectic dishes and Sunday lunches, this is a lovely gastropub offering plenty on the menu. During summer you can dine out on the terrace and gardens.

 

Places to Vist

Stamford – A charming market town with shops, bars, pubs and cafes. Explore the town and make a trip to Burghley House to walk around the grounds and house.

Rutland Water – Covering 4,200 acres of open countryside, Rutland Water offers everything from walking and cycling to fishing and watersports.

Nene Valley Railway – The UK’s leading international steam attraction, based at Wansford Station, offering the chance to experience the thrill of riding a steam engine, learn about the railway’s history, and explore the picturesque surroundings of the Nene Valley area.
